Colorado Boulevard will be closed from Orange Grove Boulevard to Linda Vista Avenue beginning at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18 and ending at 5:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, due to the Colorado Street Bridge Party, according to a public advisory posted by the City of Pasadena.
The temporary closure will affect vehicular access along a key stretch of Colorado Boulevard near and on the iconic bridge.
The Bridge Party is a biennial community celebration hosted by Pasadena Heritage that takes place on the historic Colorado Street Bridge and in nearby Defenders Park. This year’s is set for Saturday from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m.
First launched in 1978, this now-beloved tradition celebrates the iconic 1913 Beaux-Arts bridge and serves as a fundraiser for Pasadena Heritage’s ongoing preservation efforts.
The event is unique because it is the only private celebration that closes the entire 1,467-foot bridge to traffic, allowing thousands of attendees to stroll across one of Pasadena’s most magnificent architectural landmarks.
The celebration typically draws approximately 5,000 guests.
Proceeds from the event support Pasadena Heritage’s mission to preserve and protect the historic, architectural, and cultural resources of Pasadena
