Mayor Victor Gordo could have an opponent in the March election after all.
According to the City Clerk’s website, Allen Shay pulled papers to run for Mayor on Thursday.
Shay is a former Northwest Commissioner. In 2022 he ran for the District 7 City Council seat.
He graduated from the University of Southern California (USC), earning a Bachelor of Arts degree and later a Juris Doctor degree from law school, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Shay has been involved in various community activities and initiatives.
He has worked for his family business, the Little Red Hen, which is said to be the oldest Black-owned business in Altadena.
In his professional life, Shay has been a real estate broker and has owned a business consulting firm focused on creating sustainable business growth and jobs in Pasadena.
He has also authored a book series called “New Beginnings,” which chronicles the journey of President Obama.
As of 2022, Shay was a candidate for the Pasadena City Council, District 7. His campaign focused on his local roots and leadership experience.
Shay must collect 25 signatures and pay the fee by the Dec. 8 deadline.
