A cooling trend will settle over Pasadena this weekend, dropping temperatures from the upper 80s into the upper 70s as a low-pressure system develops along the West Coast, forecasters said Thursday.
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles said highs near 88 degrees Thursday and 87 degrees Friday will fall to 82 degrees Saturday and 79 degrees Sunday. The shift comes as strong onshore flow deepens the marine layer, delaying clearing and keeping skies cloudier than normal.
Thursday’s conditions include patchy morning fog, gradual clearing, and a high near 88 degrees. Winds will be calm, turning south-southwest at about 5 mph in the afternoon.
Friday will bring similar weather, with fog before 11:00 a.m., afternoon sun, and highs near 87 degrees. Winds remain light, but forecasters noted stronger gusts in the Antelope Valley.
By Saturday, cooler air arrives with highs near 82 degrees. Morning fog will be widespread, and some coastal areas may not clear at all. Pasadena should see partial sunshine by midday.
Sunday continues the cooling trend, with highs near 79 degrees and patchy fog before 11:00 a.m. Skies will be mostly sunny by afternoon.
Forecasters said the pattern reflects a steady decline in temperatures, shifting from slightly above normal to below seasonal averages. No rain is expected, but the marine layer will bring persistent morning clouds and fog.
Winds in Pasadena will remain light, generally calm overnight and south-southwest around 5 mph during afternoons.
The extended forecast shows highs near 80 to 81 degrees Monday through Wednesday, with mostly sunny afternoons and morning fog possible.
No advisories are in effect, but forecasters cautioned drivers to allow extra time during morning commutes due to fog and reduced visibility.
