City Councilmember Jason Lyon announced Wednesday that U.S. Representative Judy Chu has endorsed his reelection to the Pasadena City Council.

Chu said that “Jason has been a thoughtful and dedicated leader who listens to his community and works hard to deliver results for Pasadena residents,” according to a statement from Lyon’s campaign.

“From advancing clean energy to protecting neighborhood quality of life, Jason has demonstrated the kind of leadership we need. I look forward to continuing to work with him to keep Pasadena a vibrant and welcoming city.”

Lyon had this to say about the endorsement: “I am deeply honored and humbled to have Representative Chu’s support. She is a tireless champion for our community, and her trust in our campaign means a great deal to me. I look forward to continuing to work with her to create meaningful progress for Pasadena residents.”

Chu’s endorsement is the first announced for the June 2, 2026 primary election in Pasadena.

Lyon’s campaign said that 2025 year-end campaign finance reports demonstrate that Lyon has strong support throughout his district.

Lyon represents Pasadena’s Council District 7, which spans from Arroyo Parkway to Oak Avenue. The district includes The Pasadena Playhouse, Caltech, Pasadena City College, and the residential neighborhoods that surround those celebrated institutions.

He was elected to his first term on June 7, 2022. He is a member of the Council’s Municipal Services, Economic Development and Technology, and Housing, Homelessness, and Planning committees, as well as the ad hoc committee on the development of the former 710 stub.

He also serves on the Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority and as the Mayor’s alternate to the San Gabriel Valley Council of Governments.
