Councilmember Madison to Host Town Hall on SR-710 Project Next Steps

District 6 City Councilmember Steve Madison will host a town hall meeting Wednesday focused on the future of the long-debated SR-710 corridor project and recommendations recently delivered by consultants and an advisory group.

The meeting is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on May 13 at the ArtCenter Hillside Campus Ahmanson Auditorium, 1700 Lida St. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

According to the announcement, the program will feature presentations by senior staff from Pasadena’s Planning and Transportation departments, along with transportation consulting firm Point C, which has been involved in studying alternatives and next steps related to the former freeway extension project.

“Now that the consultants and advisory group have delivered their reports, learn more about where the City goes from here and provide your input on this critically important project,” the notice states.

The SR-710 issue has shaped regional transportation debates for decades. State officials abandoned plans to complete the northern extension of the freeway through Pasadena and neighboring communities after years of opposition from residents and legal challenges.

Since then, local agencies have started discussions that will eventually focus on traffic management, mobility improvements, transit and surface street enhancements.

Madison has previously said community input would play a key role in determining how Pasadena approaches future transportation planning connected to the corridor.

Parking for Wednesday’s meeting will be available in the north parking lot at the campus, with overflow parking in the south lot.
