BREAKING: A police pursuit ended Thursday afternoon when suspects fled on foot to the Eagle Rock Recreation Center following a multi-vehicle crash that shut down portions of the eastbound 134 Freeway.

Police are also investigating a reported shooting, possibly involving officers, near Figueroa Street and the 134 Freeway in the Eagle Rock area.

The incident began around 3 p.m. when authorities responded to a three-vehicle collision on the eastbound 134 Freeway. According to emergency logs, the crash initially involved “a black SUV vs red Tesla vs silver sedan” blocking lanes, with subsequent reports indicating a gold vehicle and white truck were also involved.

By 3:16 p.m., emergency responders reported two Black male adults running eastbound in the fast lane of the freeway, with one described as shirtless. One responder noted they appeared to be “running fast, trying to get away from something.”

Los Angeles Police Department air units tracked the suspects to the Eagle Rock Recreation Center, where at least one suspect was reportedly “carrying a guitar” and suffered injuries to the head. Emergency logs indicate one person was transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.

LAPD requested assistance from California Highway Patrol to close portions of the eastbound 134 Freeway near Figueroa Street and blocked off Eagle Vista Drive. Law enforcement established a command post and deployed K-9 units to the scene.

Around 4:10 p.m., police helicopter unit H62 reported a possible visual of a suspect at 1137 Eagle Vista Drive, describing “five houses just south of freeway, red vehicle in driveway.” Officers were observed giving commands to a suspect, but subsequent reports indicated “negative visual” with the last sighting of a suspect “entering residence, all doors closed, curtains halfway open on windows.”

The incident caused significant traffic disruption, with reports of vehicles traveling the wrong way on the Harvey onramp to avoid the freeway closure.

By 5:32 p.m., emergency logs indicated the tow request for the damaged vehicles had been cancelled, suggesting the immediate emergency response had concluded.

No injuries to law enforcement officers were reported during the incident.
