Pasadena Councilmember Felicia Williams has garnered endorsements from influential business and labor leaders in Los Angeles, including the Los Angeles and Orange County Building Trades Council, LA County Business Federation, Pasadena Foothill Association of Realtors, and local Pasadena business owners, her campaign announced earlier this week.
These endorsements come in recognition of Councilmember Williams’ leadership in supporting local businesses, fostering job creation, and advocating for diverse housing options to address Pasadena’s needs, a statement by the campaign said.
The Los Angeles and Orange County Building Trades Council, representing 48 local unions with 150,000 members, cited Williams’ efforts on the City Council to ensure new developments that contribute to community benefits and local hiring.
Ernesto Medrano, Executive Secretary of the council, is quoted as saying Williams has consistently been promoting projects that provide employment opportunities in the construction trades.
“Between her work on the City Council to ensure new development provides community benefits and local hiring to her professional work financing projects that provide good jobs for the construction trades, Felicia has been a champion for working families,” Medrano said.
In the campaign statement, Williams reflected on her endorsements by saying how her first job in her mother’s real estate office inspired her to start a small business consulting with cities to finance infrastructure projects that create good jobs.
“I am proud to have the support of the business community and trade unions so we can work together on a more accessible and affordable Pasadena,” she said.
Gale Kohl, owner of Gale’s Restaurant, emphasized that Williams understands the vital role that small businesses play in the economy.
“She has supported local businesses during and after the pandemic, and we need her voice on the City Council so we can continue to thrive,” Kohl said.
Williams also holds the position of President of the Burbank Airport and serves on the Board of Foothill Transit. A municipal finance and public policy professional, Williams is an alumna of Polytechnic School, Stanford University, UCLA, and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
