The Department of Motor Vehicles field office in Pasadena will open an hour earlier beginning Thursday, June 2 through the end of September.
On Thursday, the DMV said Pasadena DMV at 49 S. Rosemead Blvd. will join 63 other field offices across the state in opening at 7 a.m. every weekday except Wednesday, when they open at 9 a.m. These offices will close at 5 p.m. daily.
“While most folks no longer need to visit us at the office, for the rare times they do, we’ve extended our hours,” Steve Gordon, DMV Director, said. “Giving customers an extra hour to complete their DMV transactions is just another way the DMV is making things convenient for our customers. The extra hour also allows more customers to complete their REAL ID application now instead of waiting until next spring as the federal enforcement date nears.”
The DMV continues to encourage customers to use its online services and other service channels to complete transactions, saying they’ve expanded digital services and that most DMV tasks now do not require an office visit.
Customers are advised to use the Service Advisor feature on the DMV website, www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/make-an-appointment/service-advisor, to complete DMV tasks.
Customers can also apply for a REAL ID through the DMV. Starting on May 3 next year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security will be requiring a valid passport or other federally approved documents or identification cards – such as a REAL ID – to board flights within the United States and to enter secure federal facilities, including military bases.
To apply, visit www.REALID.dmv.ca.gov, fill out the online application and upload your documents. A visit to a DMV office is required to complete the application.
