A gunman carjacked a driver in a residential neighborhood in Pasadena early Saturday, police said
The vehicle was recovered a short time later in Los Angeles, but the carjacker remained at large following the 5:12 a.m. crime in the 200 block of Barthe Drive, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.
A Pasadena man was sitting in his parked Nissan Sentra, waiting for a passenger, he said.
A man approached, displayed a handgun and ordered the victim out of his car, according to the lieutenant. The victim complied and was not hurt. The carjacker sped away in the Nissan, which also contained other property such as the victim’s wallet and cell phone.
A LoJack vehicle anti-theft system signal led investigators to find the car abandoned in Los Angeles, but there was no sign of the suspect, Burgess said. The vehicle was examined for evidence and returned to its owner.
Police described the carjacker as a white or Latino man between 20 and 30 years old. He wore a bandana over his face and carried a black handgun.
