Edward Yen Takes Helm as Executive Officer of Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors

Edward Yen was sworn in this week as the new Executive Officer of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, taking on oversight of the Board’s $340 million budget and nearly 500 budgeted positions.

In a ceremony presided over by Gay Yuen, Ph.D., commissioner for the Los Angeles County Human Relations Commission, Yen took the oath of office administered by Supervisor Lindsey Horvath. His wife, Michelle, assisted during the swearing-in.

Yen brings nearly two decades of public service experience to the role, including positions with the Los Angeles County Office of County Counsel and the Office of the Assessor. He previously worked as an attorney in private practice.

“I stand before you not just an employee of the Los Angeles County Executive Office,” Yen said in remarks after taking the oath. “But as a proud member of a family that shapes the very fabric of our vibrant community.”

He added, “I look forward to serving and guiding this department to becoming the ultimate service provider.”

Each member of the Board of Supervisors provided remarks on Yen’s years of service and vision for the future.

The Executive Officer role involves overseeing administration of the Board of Supervisors, which governs America’s most populous County with over 10 million residents.

The swearing-in ceremony took place this week in the Board Hearing Room. Photos show Yen taking the oath alongside his family and the five County Supervisors.
