Pasadena City officials announced closure plans for Thanksgiving weekend, ensuring essential services remain available while most City facilities observe the holiday on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29.

Emergency services will maintain full staffing throughout the holiday period. The Pasadena Fire and Police Departments will continue all patrol, jail, fire, paramedic, and emergency operations, with residents directed to call 911 for life-threatening emergencies and (626) 744-4241 for non-emergencies. Officials encourage residents to “See Something, Say Something” by reporting suspicious activity to the Police Department, whose records section will remain closed until Monday, December 2.

For utility-related concerns, the Pasadena Water and Power Department will handle power emergencies at (626) 744-4673 and water emergencies at (626) 744-4138. While the PWP Customer Service Call Center will be closed, residents can still access accounts and make payments through the automated phone system at (626) 744-4005 or online at PWPweb.com.

Municipal service adjustments include modified trash collection schedules, with Thursday’s collection moving to Friday, November 29, and Friday’s collection shifting to Saturday, November 30. The City Service Center will be closed both Thursday and Friday but remains accessible online or by calling (626) 744-7311. Residents requiring permits can access online permitting services 24/7 at CityOfPasadena.net/PermitCenterOnline.

Public transportation and parking enforcement will see temporary changes. Pasadena Transit and Dial-A-Ride buses will not operate on Thanksgiving Day but resume regular service on Friday.

While parking meters will be free on Thanksgiving Day, regular enforcement resumes Friday, with violations for overnight parking, red curb parking, and blocking fire hydrants continuing throughout both days.

All Pasadena Public Library locations will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, November 27, remaining closed for the following two days. Recreation and community centers will also close on Thursday and Friday, though parks remain open for public use without site reservations.

The City of Pasadena and Visit Pasadena have partnered to launch the “Shop Local Pasadena” campaign, encouraging community members to shop and dine locally this holiday season. Starting Small Business Saturday, November 30, shoppers visiting official welcome stations at various small and independent businesses across the city can receive free canvas shopping totes while supplies last.
