Pasadena will see one last day of extreme heat Friday, with temperatures near 99 degrees, before a weekend cooldown brings modest relief, forecasters said.
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles reported that highs Friday will remain nearly 20 degrees above normal, prompting heat warnings across the region. Cooling begins Saturday, with highs near 92 degrees, and continues Sunday with highs around 90 degrees.
Forecasters said the ridge of high pressure responsible for record-setting March heat will weaken over the weekend.
Temperatures will remain above normal into next week, with highs in the low to mid-90s Monday through Wednesday. Slight cooling is expected Thursday, but no rain is forecast through the end of March.
Winds will stay light, generally shifting to southwest breezes at 5 to 10 mph in the afternoons. North winds may briefly develop Sunday, reducing cloud cover in some areas.
Heat warnings remain in effect Friday. No advisories are expected over the weekend as conditions moderate, though residents are urged to stay hydrated and limit outdoor activity during peak heat.
