A multi-vehicle collision on the Ventura (134) Freeway in Pasadena left two people trapped inside an overturned big rig and shut down westbound lanes for the rescue and clean up, authorities said Monday.
The crash was reported to the California Highway Patrol at 11:06 p.m. Sunday on the westbound Ventura Freeway at Figueroa Street.
The Los Angeles Fire Department reported to the scene, believing it was in Eagle Rock and the Los Angeles city limits, only to find out it was in Pasadena, according to the LAFD’s Nicholas Prange.
LAFD firefighters assisted Pasadena firefighters in freeing the people in the big rig and taking them to hospitals for treatment of injuries, Prange said.
The CHP shut down all westbound lanes of the 134 Freeway at 11:15 p.m. for investigation and cleanup but reopened the HOV lane at 11:28 p.m. The SigAlert was canceled at 5:05 a.m.
