Five Pasadena-Area Nonprofits Unite for Garden Party Benefiting Seniors

For more than 100 years, the Convalescent Aid Society has been doing something that sounds almost impossibly simple: lending wheelchairs, hospital beds, and walkers to people who need them, free of charge, no questions asked. Now the Pasadena nonprofit is highlighting four organizations that share its commitment to older adults.

CAS announced this month that Leeza’s Care Connection, ONEgeneration, Pasadena Senior Center, and The Pasadena Village will serve as nonprofit partners for its 2026 Garden Party, the organization’s primary annual fundraiser.

Leeza’s Care Connection will also receive CAS’s Community Impact Award, given each year to an individual or organization advancing access to quality healthcare across the San Gabriel and San Fernando Valleys, according to the CAS Garden Party website.

The four partners represent a cross-section of the region’s senior services.

Leeza’s Care Connection, founded by television host Leeza Gibbons after her mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease, has offered free programs for family caregivers since 2002, including support groups, education, and wellness resources. ONEgeneration, a Van Nuys-based nonprofit founded in 1978, provides intergenerational programs that bring together older adults and young children, along with senior nutrition services and care management. The Pasadena Senior Center, a donor-supported nonprofit at 85 East Holly Street, has served older adults since 1960 and operates without local, state, or federal funding. And Pasadena Village, founded in 2012, supports more than 250 members over age 55 who are aging in place through walking groups, discussion circles, educational programs, and mutual assistance.

“We’re proud to recognize these incredible nonprofit partners who will be joining us at the 2026 Convalescent Aid Society Garden Party!” CAS said in a Facebook post announcing the partnerships.

CAS was founded in 1923 by seven Pasadena residents who wanted to help people recovering from illness obtain medical equipment they could not afford. From its headquarters at 3255 East Foothill Boulevard in Pasadena, the organization now distributes 10,000 pieces of durable medical equipment annually and serves more than 14,000 clients across the San Gabriel and San Fernando Valleys, according to its website. A second office opened in Burbank in recent years. The organization is funded entirely by private donations and receives no government support.
