Pasadena residents will see a gradual cooling trend this weekend, with daytime highs easing into the upper 70s before warmer-than-normal temperatures return early next week, according to the National Weather Service.
Friday’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high near 81 degrees, with calm winds shifting to a light west-southwest breeze in the afternoon. Overnight lows will fall to about 47 degrees under mostly clear skies.
Saturday will be slightly cooler, with highs near 79 degrees and light southwest winds. Saturday night will be partly cloudy with lows around 48. Sunday will remain sunny, topping out near 78 degrees, with calm winds turning weakly onshore in the afternoon.
Forecasters said highs will settle into the upper 70s through the weekend, down from the low 80s earlier this week. By Monday and Tuesday, the ridge of high pressure is expected to rebuild, driving highs back into the low 80s, 10 to 15 degrees above normal for mid-December.
No rain is forecast for Pasadena through the coming week. Conditions will remain dry.
Offshore breezes that dominated earlier this week are weakening. Pasadena will see calm mornings with light afternoon onshore winds around 5 mph Saturday and Sunday. Early next week, weak offshore flow may return, though not as strong as recent days.
Saturday and Sunday will be sunny and seasonably warm, with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the upper 40s. Forecasters said the pattern will shift again Monday, with highs near 81 degrees, holding around 80 Tuesday. By midweek, temperatures will ease slightly, with highs near 76 Wednesday and 74 Thursday.
