The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library will reprise their annual patio book sale on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at the Jefferson Branch Library. The event, running from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offers attendees the opportunity to fill a grocery bag with books for $5, with Friends of the Pasadena Public Library providing the bags for purchase.
Proceeds support various cultural and educational programs across the library system’s ten branches (as well as local readers hungry for inexpensive reads).
The sale will feature hundreds of hardbacks and paperbacks, including both fiction and non-fiction titles, along with an extensive selection of children’s books. Located at 1500 East Villa Street, between Hill and Allen, the Jefferson Branch Library campus serves as the new home for Friends of the Pasadena Public Library operations.
The Friends of the Pasadena Public Library has been actively supporting the Pasadena Public Library system for over 50 years, focusing on programs that inspire a love of reading and discovery among patrons of all ages. The organization funds library programs, special services, and cultural events throughout the year, including Summer Reading, cultural heritage celebrations, and community-wide initiatives like One City One Story.
The bookstore, which reopened in January 2024 at the Jefferson Elementary School campus, offers books, DVDs, CDs, and LPs.
Current hours are Monday-Thursday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Community members can support the organization by joining the Friends, through membership options ranging from $10 for individuals and $25 for families to $100 for lifetime memberships, or by volunteering at special events, the library bookstore, patio book sales, and other recurring programs.
