Ministry leaders who work with teenagers and young adults can learn about a doctoral program designed around their schedules when Fuller Theological Seminary hosts a live webinar Thursday, January 22.
Dr. Steve Argue, associate professor of youth, family, and culture at the Pasadena-based seminary, will lead the session on Fuller’s Doctor of Ministry cohort in Youth, Family, and Culture. The three-year program requires only one week per year on Fuller’s Pasadena campus, allowing students to continue their ministry work while pursuing a doctoral degree.
The cohort is designed for professionals in youth ministry, pastoral ministry, family ministry, parachurch organizations, camping ministry, educational contexts, and campus ministry, according to Fuller Seminary. Students complete 48 units of coursework, write three publishable articles, and produce a major research project.
Argue, who also serves as applied research strategist for the Fuller Youth Institute, co-leads a $1.25 million Lilly Endowment research initiative examining how congregations can better support young adults. His published works include “Young Adult Ministry Now” and “Growing With: Every Parent’s Guide to Helping Teenagers and Young Adults Thrive in Their Faith, Family, and Future.”
“I feel a deep commitment to giving voice to and hearing the stories of adolescents and emerging adults,” Argue stated on his faculty profile. “I want their stories to be heard and told to promote understanding across relational and generational lines.”
The program’s annual in-person intensives take place in October on Fuller’s Oakland Avenue campus. The first cohort session is scheduled for October 5-9, 2026. Tuition is $505 per unit, according to Fuller Seminary, though institutional scholarships reduce costs for many students.
The application deadline for the Youth, Family, and Culture cohort is July 31, 2026.
Registration for the January 22 webinar is available through Fuller Seminary. For more information, contact Fuller’s admissions office at admissions@fuller.edu or 626-584-5200. Dr. Argue can be reached at sargue@fuller.edu or 626-584-5524.
