Fuller Seminary Marks 60 Years of Missiology With 2025 Lectures on Emerging Horizons

Fuller Theological Seminary will commemorate six decades of missiological scholarship with its 2025 Missiology Lectures, a three-day conference focused on “Missiology in a New Generation,” scheduled for Oct. 15 to 17 at Travis Auditorium and online via Whova. 

The event will feature plenary lectures, panel discussions, and interviews with four leading missiologists: David Bennett, Bokyoung Park, Christian Tsekpoe and Martin Rodriguez. Each scholar will present on emerging paradigms in mission studies, followed by faculty responses and audience Q&A. Spanish and Korean translations will be available for plenary sessions and interviews. 

“This is a working conference,” wrote organizers David H. Scott and Kirsteen Kim. “We’ve asked scholars who know Fuller to offer feedback on what they see as new horizons for missiology.” 

Founded in 1965 as the School of World Mission, Fuller’s missiology program was renamed the School of Intercultural Studies in 2003 and integrated into the School of Mission and Theology in 2021. The lectures mark the 60th anniversary of the program’s founding and aim to reflect on its legacy while exploring future directions.

Plenary speakers include: 

• David Bennett, a global mission leader and MIT-trained engineer, who served as Global Associate Director for Collaboration and Content with the Lausanne Movement. 
• Bokyoung Park, president of the International Association for Mission Studies and founder of the Adullam Grant and House of Adullam, which supports young adults in Korea. 
• Christian Tsekpoe, head, Department of Mission at Pentecost University in Ghana and editor of “Pentecost Journal of Theology and Mission,” whose work draws attention to intergenerational missiology. 
• Martin Rodriguez, assistant professor of practical theology and missiology at Azusa Pacific University, co-author of “Caminemos con Jesús” and host of the “Missiology on the Edge” podcast.

A chapel service with Fuller President David Emmanuel Goatley on Oct. 15 at 10:00 a.m. 

Plenary lectures with faculty responses and Q&A 

Six “Mutual Missiology Interviews” on church growth, Bible and mission, world Christianity, power and mission, integral mission, and urban transformation 

A Missiology Department Discussion hosted by Dean Jeff Keuss A panel discussion designed for international time zones 

In-person attendees are invited to RSVP for a complimentary campus tour and small reception on Oct. 15 at 12:30 p.m., intended for those interested in Fuller’s graduate degree programs. 

All content will be accessed exclusively through the Whova event app, available on desktop and mobile. Registration is open to the public, with fees ranging from $25 to $50. Fuller students, staff and faculty may attend free of charge. Video and audio recordings will be released post-event via FULLER studio with translated captions. 

The seminary has also announced early plans for the 2026 Missiology Lectures and invites public sign-ups for updates.
