Fuller Seminary to Install Soong-Chan Rah as Professor of Evangelism

Fuller Theological Seminary will install Soong-Chan Rah as the Robert Boyd Munger Professor of Evangelism and Church Renewal on Oct. 22. 

The ceremony, hosted by the Office of the Chief Academic Officer, will take place from 10 to 11 a.m. at Travis Auditorium, located at 180 N. Oakland Ave. in Pasadena.

Rah, who joined Fuller’s faculty in 2021, will deliver an installation address titled “A Brighter Future for Evangelism?” The event, open to the public with no registration required, will be livestreamed on YouTube, with live translation in Spanish and Korean.

Prior to his appointment at Fuller, Rah served as the Milton B. Engebretson Professor of Church Growth and Evangelism at North Park Theological Seminary. His academic background includes a Doctorate in Theology from Duke Divinity School, Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a Master of Theology from Harvard University.

Rah has authored or co-authored several award-winning books, including “The Next Evangelicalism: Freeing the Church from Western Cultural Captivity” and “Unsettling Truths: The Ongoing, Dehumanizing Legacy of the Doctrine of Discovery.” His work often focuses on cultural intelligence, justice, and the immigrant church experience.

An ordained pastor in the Evangelical Covenant Church, Rah is also a member of several academic societies. He has spoken extensively on cross-cultural ministry, social justice, and the witness of the church at various conferences and institutions.

The installation ceremony will be followed by a reception.
