The blaze was reported at approximately 6:43 p.m. on August 17.
According to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Monica Cuellar, officers were first to arrive on scene and saw the attached garage fully engulfed in flames.
Officers forced entry into the residence and rescued a 11-year-old boy, while a second child, a 9-year-old boy had run out of the home.
The parents had reportedly gone to a nearby store and returned shortly after emergency personnel arrived, according to Cuellar.
Pasadena Fire Department crews arrived within minutes and knocked down the blaze.
Firefighters rescued one dog from the property. No injuries were reported.
Cuellar said the residents were displaced for the night.
The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
