[City of Pasadena]
A garage fire broke out Sunday evening at a one-story home on the 1200 block of Tropical Avenue in Upper Hastings Ranch, prompting a swift response from both Pasadena police officers and firefighters.

The blaze was reported at approximately 6:43 p.m. on August 17.

According to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Monica Cuellar, officers were first to arrive on scene and saw the attached garage fully engulfed in flames.

Officers forced entry into the residence and rescued a 11-year-old boy, while a second child, a 9-year-old boy  had run out of the home.

The parents had reportedly gone to a nearby store and returned shortly after emergency personnel arrived, according to Cuellar.

Pasadena Fire Department crews arrived within minutes and knocked down the blaze.

Firefighters rescued one dog from the property. No injuries were reported.

Cuellar said the residents were displaced for the night.

The investigation into the cause of the fire remains ongoing.
