Geoffrey Baum Re-Elected Vice President to California Community Colleges Board of Governors

The California Community Colleges Board of Governors re-elected Vice President Geoffrey L. Baum for the 2014 calendar term during its recent bimonthly meeting held in Sacramento.

Members of the California Community Colleges Board of Governors are appointed by the Governor and serve for a one-year term. Manuel Baca was re-elected president.

Geoffrey Baum, is an outgoing member and past president of the governing board of the Pasadena Area Community College District.

Baum is currently employed as managing director of the Center on Communication Leadership and Policy at the University of Southern California.  He also serves as director of communications and public affairs for the Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands.  In addition, Baum has previously served as the assistant dean of the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, an executive producer at C-SPAN, and as assistant vice president of Claremont McKenna College.  He holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Claremont McKenna College.

Baum said he is looking forward to working with the President Baca and Chancellor Harris “in continuing our system’s momentum in the coming year and continuing our focus on student success.  We’re seeing enrollment numbers come back, intersessions being offered again and system funding stabilizing. It’s up to us to keep moving forward and to continue delivering to California the best workforce possible.”
