The City of Pasadena Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department and California Golden Gloves will host the California State Boxing Tournament on April 12-13, 2025, at Victory Park Recreation Center. The prestigious tournament provides a platform for top-level male and female amateur boxers, ages 18 and older, from across California to showcase their skills.
“The California Golden Gloves has a rich history of launching the careers of legendary fighters, including Joe Louis, Muhammad Ali, Marvin Hagler, Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Oscar de la Hoya, and Floyd Mayweather Jr.,” according to a City statement.
The Tournament features winners from last month’s Southern California Regional Tournament who will enter the ring once again to compete for state championship belts. These past national champions began their journeys in local Golden Gloves tournaments, and many of today’s rising stars are expected to follow in their footsteps.
Competition begins at 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 and continues at 11 a.m. on Sunday, April 13 at Victory Park Recreation Center, located at 2575 Paloma St. in Pasadena.
Spectators can purchase general admission tickets at the door on tournament days only. Ticket prices are $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 10 and under.
Champions will advance to represent the state of California at the National Tournament of Champions in Tulsa, Oklahoma in May.
