A passer-by captured a robber who had mugged an 81-year-old man near a grocery storeoin East Foothill Blvd. Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
The unidentified passer-by nabbed robbery suspect Richard Ray Duncan, 21, after the alleged crime occurred in the 3600 block of East Foothill Blvd., the Pasadena Star-News said citing Pasadena police officials and Los Angeles County booking records.
The old man came from the grocery store and was about to go into his car when Duncan approached him and forcibly took the his wallet from his pocket, Pasadena police Lt. Jason Clawson told the Star-News.
“The victim attempted to struggle for the wallet, but was overpowered by the suspect,†Clawson added.
As Duncan tried to fly the scene, the concerned “passer-by gave chase and apprehended the suspect,†Clawson told the newspaper.
The helper then held the suspect before the police arrived, Clawson added.
The police reported no injuries. The suspect was placed into custody in lieu of $50,000 bail pending his initial court appearance.
