For 17 years,  Ronald McDonald House Pasadena has provided comfort, care, and support to families with critically ill children, keeping them close to their family, doctors and medical care in their time of need even as the pandemic grips the city.

Beyond walls and a roof, the caring staff provide families with a supportive and caring community during their most difficult times.

The House’s Board of Trustees on Thursday hosted their annual Heart of the House party to show their appreciation for the organization’s most dedicated supporters.

In spite of the year’s challenges, members of the Pasadena community have stepped up to lend a helping hand to families with critically ill children.

At the event nearly 50 guests enjoyed drinks and hors d’oeuvres in the backyard of the newly expanded administrative offices.

“This year we were excited to launch our Adopt a Room program where donors are able to sponsor the care and maintenance for a bedroom for families for a full year, which ensures that families with critically ill children always have a clean, warm, and welcoming place to stay near the medical facility,” Executive Director Mara Leong-Maguinez  explained.

Thursday’s event was away to thank Adopt a Room partners and all donors, she said.

“The support of our dedicated community has kept our doors open for families when they need it most. We are inspired by the resiliency our families demonstrate every day,” Leong-Maguinez told the gathering.

She said the nonprofit is looking forward to celebrating its annual gala on October 16th at a private club — “back in person and more fun than ever.”
