The outdoor sessions, which Hampton’s office calls ‘walking community meetings,’ bring the councilmember to neighborhood intersections for informal discussions on city initiatives, local concerns, and district issues. Hampton has held such meetings regularly since he was first elected to the District 1 council seat in 2015, according to the city of Pasadena’s website.
The first meeting took place on Wednesday evening at the corner of Elizabeth Avenue and Walworth Street. The second is set for Thursday evening at the corner of Navarro Avenue and West Tremont Street, according to an announcement from the councilmember’s office.
Thursday’s meeting time was adjusted due to weather conditions. The finalized session schedule is from 6 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. City staff will be on site beginning at 5:30 p.m. for residents who arrive early.
“We appreciate your flexibility and look forward to connecting with you at one of the upcoming meetings,” Hampton said in an email to constituents.
Both locations sit within District 1, which covers northwest Pasadena and is bounded by Oak Grove, the Arroyo Seco Channel, Colorado Boulevard, the 210 Freeway, Washington Boulevard, Los Robles Avenue, and Lake Avenue, among other streets.
Hampton, a lifelong Pasadena resident who attended Pasadena Unified School District schools and graduated from John Muir High School, has represented the First District since 2015. He also served as the city’s vice mayor from May 2019 to December 2020.
The meetings are open and require no reservation. No formal agenda has been posted. Residents with questions or concerns can contact the District 1 office at 626-744-4444 or by email at nibernard@cityofpasadena.net.
