Pasadena City College student Hanna Israel has been elected as the 2012-2013 student trustee member for the Pasadena Area Community College District. She took the oath from Geoffrey Baum, Pasadena Area Community College District Board of Trustees president, at the Board’s June 20 meeting and will serve a one-year term.
This will be Israel’s third year as a member of the Associated Students of Pasadena City College (ASPCC). She previously served consecutive one-year terms as the first vice president for sustainability. She spent the past year spearheading student research and collaboration in campus-wide sustainability policy and advocating for higher education funding with the ASPCC lobby committee, of which she is currently a delegate member.
In addition to her active role in participatory governance, Israel is majoring in philosophy. She competes with the Lancer Speech & Debate team in Parliamentary and Lincoln-Douglas debate, and intends to further her education and her interests in both law and sustainability management.
