Head-on Collision in Pasadena Leaves Toddler Critically Injured

A toddler remains in critical condition following a head-on collision involving two sedans Monday afternoon, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Monica Cuellar.

Cuellar said officers responded at 2:34 p.m. to the 1200 block of South Marengo Avenue, where they found two vehicles — a Honda and a BMW — had collided head-on. Paramedics from the Pasadena Fire Department transported all three occupants to area hospitals. Two victims sustained life-threatening injuries, Cuellar said.

One of those victims, a 25-year-old woman from Los Angeles, was later upgraded to stable condition. Her passenger, a female toddler, suffered internal injuries and head trauma and remains hospitalized in critical condition, Cuellar said. The other driver, a 26-year-old Pasadena woman, was treated for a fractured wrist.

Cuellar said the Los Angeles driver also sustained lacerations, abrasions, and a possible fractured foot. The Pasadena driver was transported for treatment but remained in stable condition.

Because of the severity of the injuries, the Pasadena Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene and took over the investigation, Cuellar said.
