Heat Holds Through Saturday; Sunday Brings Cooldown

Pasadena will remain hotter than normal through Saturday, with highs in the lower 90s, before a significant cool down arrives Sunday, according to the National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard office.

Forecasters said today will be sunny with a high near 92. Winds will stay calm before shifting southwest at 5 mph in the afternoon. Tonight will be mostly clear, with lows around 66.

Friday will continue hot, reaching near 94 under sunny skies. Winds will remain light, becoming southwest in the afternoon. Patchy fog may develop late Friday night, with lows around 67.

Saturday will bring similar heat, with highs near 94. Morning fog is expected before skies turn partly sunny. Forecasters noted mid- and high-level clouds could increase depending on the track of Hurricane Polo. Overnight lows will remain in the upper 60s.

Sunday marks the change, with highs dropping to the mid-80s. A trough moving into California will deepen the marine layer, producing widespread morning clouds. Temperatures will fall 4 to 8 degrees compared to Saturday, forecasters said.

Monday may bring a slight chance of showers, though forecasters stressed uncertainty tied to tropical systems Polo and Odalys. At present, most rainfall is expected to remain south of Los Angeles County. Pasadena’s high Monday should reach near 81, with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Winds will stay light throughout the forecast period, generally calm in the mornings and shifting southwest in the afternoons. No advisories are currently in effect for Pasadena, though forecasters warned of increasing south swells at area beaches beginning Sunday, peaking Monday and Tuesday.

By Tuesday, weak offshore flow and building high pressure will return, warming Pasadena’s highs back into the upper 80s. Wednesday should remain sunny, with highs near 89.
