Former California State Assemblymember Chris Holden’s 26th Annual Community Resource Fair and Block Party will take place Sept. 27 after heat warnings earlier in the month prompted organizers to postpone the original date.
The event will run from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. along the 500 block of East Jackson Street in Pasadena. LA Fire Justice is hosting this year’s gathering.
Organizers said they remain committed to supporting Altadena businesses despite the scheduling change. The heat warnings caused what they called “a slight delay” in the annual community event, but no lessening of support or enthusiasm for what has become an anticipated signature local event.
The block party combines a resource fair with community activities. This marks the 26th year for the event organized by Holden.
The September date represents a new timing for the long-running community gathering. Previous scheduling details were not immediately available.
The event location on East Jackson Street will close to vehicle traffic during the four-hour block party. Community members can access various resources and connect with local organizations.
LA Fire Justice’s role as host brings a new element to this year’s festivities.
Local businesses in Altadena will benefit from the continued support, according to organizers. The commitment to these businesses factored into the decision to reschedule rather than cancel.
The resource fair portion typically connects residents with community services and information. Block party activities provide entertainment and neighborhood networking opportunities.
