Homeless Woman Arrested for Assaulting Police Officers During Investigation

A homeless woman was arrested Sunday night after allegedly assaulting two police officers, according to authorities.

Lieutenant Matt Campeau of the Pasadena Police Department reported that Amy Diperto, 40, was taken into custody on February 2 at approximately 8:37 p.m. in the 10 block of North Arroyo Boulevard.

The incident began when Diperto was detained during an unrelated investigation and placed in the back seat of a police vehicle. Lt. Campeau said that the suspect then began kicking the passenger window.

One of the officers opened the rear door to prevent damage and attempted to calm the suspect to de-escalate the situation, Campeau said.

However, according to the lieutenant, Diperto continued her belligerent behavior and proceeded to kick both officers. One officer was struck in the lower abdomen, while the other was hit in the groin area.

To halt the assault, an officer reportedly deployed pepper spray on the suspect, which Campeau said “immediately halted the suspect’s assaultive behavior”.

Diperto was subsequently arrested on charges of assault on a peace officer and public intoxication.
