Huntington Hospital Medical Staff recently hosted their end-of-year “Doctors Without Orders” group event, bringing together over 75 physicians to honor retiring and transitioning leaders.

The gathering celebrated Pasadena neurologist Philip Girard for his dedication to the community at his practice, Girard Neurology. The group also recognized Peter Rosenberg for completing his two-year term as Chief of Medical Staff and welcomed Wafaa Alrashid as the incoming Chief of Medical Staff, beginning January 2025.

These leadership transitions come as Huntington Health continues expanding its impact across the San Gabriel Valley. In 2023, the institution provided an estimated $161,549,349 worth of healthcare services and assistance to residents of the region and beyond. This builds on their established record of community support, which in 2017 included providing health screening and counseling for 1,962 people, over 2,045 free flu shots, and weekly breastfeeding support groups serving 3,500 mothers.

As the largest Emergency Department in the San Gabriel Valley and the region’s only Level II Trauma Center, Huntington Health offers comprehensive medical services. The facility maintains specialized departments for orthopedics, cancer treatment, maternity care, and cardiology. Its Senior Care Network, operating since 1984, supported 5,000 callers and walk-ins, while the Emergency and Trauma Center handled 75,680 visits in a single year.

The institution’s 2020 affiliation with Cedars-Sinai Health System aims to enhance healthcare delivery through a clinically integrated platform. As a nonprofit organization, Huntington Health provides care regardless of patients’ ability to pay and maintains extensive professional education programs, including Graduate Medical Education in internal medicine and surgery.

Through its physician group, Huntington Health Physicians, the institution provides primary and specialty care across multiple locations throughout the San Gabriel Valley. Regular Community Health Needs Assessments, conducted in partnership with the City of Pasadena Public Health Department, help identify and address evolving healthcare requirements in the region.
