Published on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 | 7:37 am

Osek, a new Korean restaurant, was opened in Old Pasadena last Friday, July 5, taking over the former Yujean Kang space.

“Osek,” meaning “five colors” in Korean, refers to five color food, or a balanced cuisine that uses various ingredients for a healthy lifestyle.

Some of the featured traditional cuisines are braised beef ribs, seafood and green onion pancakes, spicy beef stews served in earthenware bowls, and bibimbap, as well as Korean dishes galbi, bulgogi, and soontofu.

The restaurant was founded by Susan Hae Kyung Kim and Brian Chin. Chin has experience running a Korean BBQ and seafood buffet in Koreatown.

Osek runs from Sunday to Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and until 11:00 p.m. on the weekend.
