LCPC’s Parent Education Program will host The Miracle Chase authors Joan Luise Hill and Katie Mahon for a free author tea and book signing Wednesday, May 16, 2012, from noon to 2 p.m. in the church’s Demarest Family Life Center.
Billed as “Three Mothers, Three Miracles,†the tome explores the deeply personal miracle each woman experienced individually and the 10-year journey they embarked on together to explore the phenomenon of miracles in the world’s great religions. Hill’s son survived a usually fatal cardiac abnormality, Mahon escaped from the clutches of serial killer Ted Bundy, and Phillips’ sixth-month-old daughter was blinded from an abusive caregiver. Yet all three families went on to not only survive but thrive, holding hands in faith and friendship. These first-hand occurrences propelled the trio to investigate why miracles happen when they do, why some are blessed while others are not and how people continue to believe in miracles in the age of science.
The women’s friendship, faith and family are on full-display in The Miracle Chase, but there is no need to have read the book to enjoy the author tea. Two of the three authors will be traveling from New York and northern California to speak on how receiving miracles has shaped their lives as women and mothers. This promises to be an afternoon of insight, enlightenment and hope.
Coffee, tea and finger foods will be served during this free event which is open to the community as well as Parent Education participants. Flintridge Bookstore and Coffee House will have copies of The Miracle Chase available for purchase and author signing. Childcare will be provided for $5 per child by calling ahead to (818) 790-6708 ext. 205.

About La Cañada Presbyterian Church
La Cañada Presbyterian Church (LCPC) began in 1948 with 158 members and a vision to reach the world for Jesus Christ. That early church was built quite literally on faith and charity from remainder brick and an operating budget that turned just about all of its revenue into active ministry. Through 65 years of outreach, LCPC grew to 2,000 active attendees doing ministry throughout Southern California and in 40 countries around the world. In 2010 the church completed a campus expansion which doubled its physical base for ministry and kept its historical sanctuary as the heart of the new grounds.
