La Cañada Presbyterian Church Parent ED Offers Free Hands-Only CPR Training April 11 & 12

Published on Thursday, March 29, 2012 | 3:09 pm

American Heart Association Trainer and paramedic Joe Krikorian from Code 3 Life Support Education will present a lifesaving Hands-Only CPR class to LCPC’s Parent Education Program on Wednesday and Thursday, April 11 and 12, 2012. Open to the public, the free clinic will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. each day in the church’s Fellowship Hall located at 626 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada, CA.

The class will teach attendees how to respond to an adult in cardiac arrest and will give participants the chance to practice Hands-Only CPR compressions on manikins. Hands-Only CPR has been proven to be as effective as traditional breath-giving CPR in treating adult cardiac arrest victims and could save the life of one of the nearly 383,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests that occur annually. If an adult goes into sudden cardiac arrest, his or her survival depends on getting immediate CPR and with more than 80 percent of cardiac arrests occurring at home, the life saved may just be a loved one.

Childcare for elementary age children will be provided by the Parent Education Staff, while parents and middle and high-school students receive the life-saving training. While not a full certification class, participants will receive a 10 percent coupon for further training and will become confident in their Hands-Only CPR ability. For questions call (818) 790-6708 ext 205. The event is sponsored by Code 3 Life Support Education at www.code3life.com.

About La Cañada Presbyterian Church

La Cañada Presbyterian Church (LCPC) began in 1948 with 158 members and a vision to reach the world for Jesus Christ. That early church was built quite literally on faith and charity from remainder brick and an operating budget that turned just about all of its revenue into active ministry. Through 65 years of outreach, LCPC grew to 2,000 active attendees doing ministry throughout Southern California and in 40 countries around the world. In 2010 the church completed a campus expansion which doubled its physical base for ministry and kept its historical sanctuary as the heart of the new grounds.
