A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, October 1 for a Los Angeles man charged with fatally stabbing a homeless person in Pasadena two years ago.
Sadarius Lawson, now 27, will appear in Department F of the Pasadena Courthouse at 8:30 a.m. He faces a murder charge in connection with the Aug. 12, 2022, death of a homeless man whose identity has not been disclosed.
Pasadena police officers responded to calls around 10:55 p.m. on the night of the incident, finding a man with multiple stab wounds on the 600 block of North Lake Avenue. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Lawson, who was 26 at the time, was arrested near the location minutes after police arrived. He was initially booked into jail to await charges and has remained in custody since, with bail set at $2 million.
Authorities said preliminary investigation suggested the attack was not random, though the exact motive remains under investigation.
The case has moved through several legal stages in the Los Angeles County Superior Court system since Lawson’s arrest. A preliminary hearing date setting was previously scheduled for Jan. 30, 2023, in the Pasadena Courthouse.
Lawson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
