Earlier this spring, the Lake Avenue Church family studied the lives of faithful men and women in the Bible. They were encouraged to learn from one of them – Esther. Looking at her life, the church sees how she was one who was willing to step forward in dangerous times. Like Esther, will one be ready to trust God – even in challenging situations?
While preparing this wonderful musical, LAC singers have been learning lyrics that echo the story of Esther. One of the songs say “When you’re worried, when you are afraid, remember, you will be blessed, if you remember – God is in control.†These lyrics explain that God has a plan for everyone, even while one is sleeping! He has every detail in hand and has given each one the gift of time. He has given everyone The Present (another song that will be sung in the musical). The words go like this: “the present – each day, each hour, each moment. What will we do with the present? “Our singers have dedicated many hours to rehearsals. They have had to let go of tennis, baseball, lacrosse practice – even parties. They have chosen to serve God through music and are having great fun in the process. When they experience an “Ohhh†moment we know they get it, especially when they say, “We don’t need to worry because God is in control of the future†…how great is that?”
Perhaps, God has given them these insights for such a time as this. Perhaps, the time is right for a friend or a loved one to understand God’s love for them. Perhaps, it could happen while they watch and listen to these young people present the story of Esther’s faith.
Join Lake Avenue Church next Sunday, May 20 at 4 pm in the Chapel. The fruit of these students’ hard work will bring a smile to everyone’s heart. Attendees will enjoy seeing and hearing how God can use them to remind everyone of God’s faithfulness to each one. For questions contact Judy at judyk@lakeave.org or (626) 817-4842.
