The Pasadena Branch of the NAACP is hosting two events aimed at removing employment barriers for individuals with conviction histories, in collaboration with The Social Impact Center and other community partners.
The first event, “Know Your Rights!” will be held on May 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Pasadena Convention Center. Attendees will learn about the basics of the California expungement process from an expungement attorney as they are guided through life-changing legislation and vital resources.
The event will conclude with a Q&A session with an attorney to address any questions that may arise. Registration is required for this free event.
The second event, “The Expungement Clinic,” will take place on July 20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., also at the Pasadena Convention Center. This event will provide free LiveScan services, on-site declaration writing assistance, and pro bono attorney consultations to support individuals seeking expungement.
In a press release, the Pasadena Branch NAACP emphasized that removing barriers to employment is essential for fostering equitable opportunities and promoting economic empowerment within the community. The organization expressed its commitment to supporting individuals with conviction histories in their journey towards meaningful employment.
The events are organized in collaboration with Councilmember Tyron Hampton and various community partners.
