Pasadena-based Ayzenberg Group, one of the largest privately held marketing and branding agencies on the West Coast, announced the continuation of its Multicultural Youth in Creative Advertising and Design program (MYCAD). The program, now in its third year, is aimed at students at Pasadena High School’s Graphic Communications Academy.
MYCAD is a collaborative effort between Ayzenberg and the Light Bringer Project, a Pasadena-based arts organization. The program’s objective is to inspire local high school students to consider careers in the advertising and design industry. It concludes with students presenting an ad campaign that they have developed over a four-week period.
Tom Coston, President of the Light Bringer Project, highlighted the value of MYCAD in supporting the Work-Based Learning model. This model aims to provide a bridge for secondary students from their current education to college or vocational training and ultimately to their career aspirations.
The MYCAD curriculum was developed in collaboration with faculty and administrators from the Pasadena Unified School District. Over the past two years, a team of Ayzenberg volunteers from various disciplines have shared their industry knowledge and experience with the students.
John Searcy, Associate Creative Director and MYCAD Instructor at Ayzenberg, expressed his admiration for the students’ creativity. He emphasized that MYCAD helps channel their natural talent into potential creative careers.
As MYCAD wraps up its fifth semester, Ayzenberg Group is calling for more individuals and organizations to get involved. Those interested in volunteering or learning more about the program can contact the MYCAD team at MYCAD@ayzenberg.com.
