A 45-year-old man was assaulted likely with a metal pipe while sleeping outside a business on the 1000 block of North Lake Avenue, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Matt Campeau.
The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22, but was not reported until 11:48 a.m. the following day, Campeau said. The victim, described as a transient, was lying in front of the business when he awoke to an unknown man mumbling incoherently. The suspect then allegedly punched and kicked the victim in the head and may have used a metal pipe during the attack.
The victim sustained a contusion and laceration to the top of his head, a forehead injury, and a cut above his left eye. He was later transported to a local hospital in stable condition, Campeau confirmed.
The suspect is described as an African American man between 30 and 40 years old, wearing all black clothing, a black mask, and shoulder-length braids. No weapon was recovered at the scene, and the victim stated he did not recognize the assailant and had never seen him before, Campeau said.
