A man in his twenties was injured after jumping in front of an oncoming train at the Sierra Madre Villa Metro Station on North Halstead Street on Saturday afternoon, according to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Edgar Sanchez.
The incident occurred at around 3:10 p.m.
Upon arrival, Pasadena police officers found LA County Sheriff’s deputies already at the scene. The deputies reported that the man had jumped off the platform and was hit by the train.
The man, whose identity and motivation remain unknown, sustained injuries including lacerations to his fingers.
He was immediately transported to a local hospital, but his current condition is not known.
Sanchez said the incident is being treated as a suicide attempt, as initial investigations suggest that the man intentionally jumped onto the train track.
The LA County Sheriff’s Department Transit section, which polices the Metro, is handling the incident. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
