Man Injured by Falling Tree Branch at Robinson Park

A 46-year-old Apple Valley man suffered major injuries Saturday when he was struck by a falling city tree branch at Robinson Park in Pasadena, according to Pasadena Police Lt. Sam De Sylva.

Officers from the Pasadena Police Department responded at 5:41 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, to the park, in the 1000 block of North Fair Oaks Avenue, on a report of an accident, De Sylva said.

Pasadena Fire Department paramedics transported the injured man to a local hospital for treatment, according to De Sylva. Preliminary information listed a fractured right ankle as the man’s only known injury.

De Sylva cautioned that the injury information remains preliminary and that the victim could have additional injuries not yet listed.

Personnel from the city’s Forestry Department responded to conduct an examination of the fallen branch and the associated tree, De Sylva said. The branch was not obstructing any roadway, and forestry personnel decided it was safe to leave in its current condition for their Monday crew for removal, according to the lieutenant.
