Pasadena’s holiday season officially begins Friday evening when Mayor Victor M. Gordo lights the city’s official tree at City Hall, continuing a civic tradition that brings together families, performers and firefighters collecting toys for children in need.
The Annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony runs from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on December 5 at Pasadena City Hall, 100 N. Garfield Ave. Gordo will illuminate the tree at 6 p.m.
The free event features live entertainment from five local performing groups: Afterschool Adventures Cheer & Dance, Outspoken Dance Company, Rosebud Academy Choir, W.O.W.! On the Move and Elements Dance Space. Armory Center for the Arts will provide crafts for children.
Santa Claus will make a special appearance for photos. Oh! Snaptastic! Photo Booth by Girl Squad Media will provide an additional photo stop, and light refreshments will be available.
The Pasadena Fire Department will collect new, unwrapped toys, sports equipment and gift cards for underserved children and teens as part of the Spark of Love Toy Drive. The regional drive, coordinated by ABC7 and Southern California fire departments, is in its 33rd year.
