Metro’s contractor plans to close Pasadena’s Arroyo Parkway between Holly and Union streets Monday, Nov. 2, and Tuesday, Nov. 3, to stripe new bike and travel lanes, according to a Metro update.

The striping follows station construction that began in late April at the Holly Street and Arroyo Parkway intersection, one of four Pasadena sites on Metro’s North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit line. In a Sept. 25 update, Metro said paving and final striping of new lanes there were expected through the end of October.

Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, according to the update, which Councilmember Justin Jones relayed to District 3 residents Oct. 30. The contractor will close the block so crews can work efficiently and get in and out of the area. No access can currently be provided to that block during striping, though sidewalks will remain open, Metro said. Parking will be restricted on Arroyo Parkway between Holly and Union for the full striping period, and in surrounding areas only during working hours.

Outside the closed block, crews will use moving lane closures on Holly Street and Arroyo Parkway, striping one side at a time and keeping at least one lane open, the update said.

Metro said in its notice for the intersection’s station work that crews would finish with final repaving and striping that may require a full closure, with details to come in a later notice. Metro also cautioned that construction schedules are subject to change.

Metro bus stops near the work may be relocated or affected; for changes, riders can call Metro at 323.GoMetro or, for Pasadena Transit lines, (626) 744-4055, according to Metro.

Pasadena’s other station sites are at Colorado Boulevard and Los Robles Avenue, Colorado Boulevard and Lake Avenue, and Hill Avenue and Green Street. Metro said in September that it expected heavy construction in Pasadena to be completed in November. The planned 19-mile line will connect North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock and Pasadena with zero-emission buses, and passenger service is scheduled to begin before the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
