A power outage caused Pasadena City College and local businesses to close earlier than usual Friday. The outage, reported around 10:45 a.m., also impacted Caltech’s Hill Avenue facility.
The outage was caused by a bad conductor on an overhead circuit and impacted 948 customers, according to Margie Otto, spokesperson for Pasadena Water & Power.
PCC President Dr. Rajen Vurdien closed the college around 12:30 p.m. in response to the power outage.
The outage impacted an area from Colorado Boulevard to the north, California Boulevard to the south, Allen Avenue to the east and Lake Avenue to the west, said Otto, who told Pasadena Now power was restored to all but seven customers around 12:30 p.m.
