Monday Morning Wrap: One Sunday in June

Published on Monday, June 9, 2025 | 6:32 am

Lots of craziness on Sunday as I’m sure many of you are aware of by now.

To make a long story a little longer, ICE agents decided to stay in several Pasadena hotels, all owned by the Marriot. Maybe they wanted to get their points, during a respite from a mass immigration enforcement in Los Angeles.

More than a hundred people responded by protesting their presence in town.

The First Amendment, which guarantees the right to peacefully protest, is one of our most important and cherished rights.

Take it away and we are no longer a free society, it’s as simple as that.

And yes, there are those currently in power that seek to weaken it. But we cannot allow that to happen.

As a people, we must continue to stand for what is right even in a climate of fear.

Tolerance is always right, and your voice matters.

So, continued respect to those took a stand on Sunday without resorting to violence and mayhem.

Remember, neither the City Council nor the Mayor can remove guests from a local hotel.

Nor do our elected officials set immigration policy.

No one knows how long ICE will be in town or if they will conduct local raids. That’s just the truth of the matter.

That said.

Now more than ever, it is important not to give in to fear.

Neighbor against neighbor won’t help anyone in this situation.

Rally, protest – have your say.

Keep it civil.

And watch your back.
