Dozens of parents and prospective students Wednesday toured EF Academy’s brand new campus at 1539 E Howard Street in Pasadena during the school’s third official open house. The 16-acre campus, which is expected to open in September of 2022, is the third campus of the international school, joining campuses in Oxford, England, and in New York.
According to school officials, EF Academy Pasadena has currently registered approximately 70 students and is on track to welcome about 150 EF Academy students when the campus officially opens—a mixture of 9th to 11th graders.
“We think that’s the perfect starting size for the high school program,” said a school official, “because you really get a chance to build a close-knit community and make a lot of decisions together about how you want the residential life program to work.”
EF Academy will enroll 9th through 11th grade students in its first academic year, from 40 to 60 different nationalities around the world.
Dan Denoncourt, campus director, said the campus will feature four brand new residence halls, with 230 triple rooms; 48 classrooms, including science labs and art studios; a swimming pool, a full-size soccer field, indoor and outdoor basketball and volleyball courts, and a fitness center.
EF Academy will also offer capacity for day students. Pasadena-area residents may also apply for a residency at the school, to live and attend classes Monday through Friday, and return home on weekends.
EF Academy school tuition for a full year is $42,000 for day students, $55,500 for 5-day boarding students and $62,250 for 7-day boarding students. EF Academy is also offering a $7,000 “Founding Families” scholarship for Day and 5-Day students.
As Kim Stein, Deputy Head of School for Academics described the school, “The majority of our students come from around the world, from 60 different nationalities. We also have local students, so we are like a mini-United Nations. Organically, we have such a diverse mix of students, so why not really tap into that?”
