Pasadena Unified School District Trustees will be sworn in on Monday at 5 p.m.

Scott Harden, Jennifer Hall Lee and Tina Fredericks will take the oath in the Elbie J. Hickambottom Board Room.

“Our long journey to the Pasadena Unified School Board has led to this special moment,” Harden said in an email announcement. “… I will raise my hand… to represent the students of Pasadena Unified School District. To work hard to ensure that they feel safe, valued, supported and that they truly belong in our District.”

Harden ran unopposed.

Hall Lee defeated Juan Carlos Pérez.

In her first post-election interview, Hall Lee told Pasadena Now that she “knocked on well over 5,000 doors and personally met my constituents.”

Hall Lee is scheduled to transition from Vice President to Board President in her second term on the seven-member Board, which oversees the District with members serving four-year terms.

Fredericks, the only Pasadena Unified School District Board member with K-12 teaching experience across elementary, middle and high school levels, defeated challenger Lisa Kroese.

Unlike the City Council, the District holds plurality elections which have no chance of a runoff.

In those elections, the highest vote-getter wins even if they fail to garner 50% of the vote.
