No. 12 UCLA returns to Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena on Saturday, Oct. 17, to face Wisconsin in a Big Ten football matchup between two teams unbeaten in conference play. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:36 p.m., with NBC televising the game, according to UCLA Athletics.
The Bruins (5-0 overall, 3-0 Big Ten) will play their first home game in nearly a month. Wisconsin (4-1, 2-0 Big Ten) arrives following a bye week, having last played Oct. 3 in a 31-3 victory over Michigan State.
UCLA climbed to No. 12 in the Associated Press poll after defeating then-No. 13 Oregon 17-15 on Oct. 10. The Bruins recovered five fumbles and intercepted two passes. Running back Wayne Knight rushed for 103 yards and scored both UCLA touchdowns, one rushing and one receiving, according to the university’s game notes.
Knight enters Saturday’s contest with 11 touchdowns through five games. UCLA leads the Big Ten with 253.2 rushing yards per game and 19 rushing touchdowns, according to its Oct. 13 game preview. Defensively, senior linebacker Sammy Omosigho has recorded 42 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles this season.
Wisconsin has won four consecutive games since a season-opening loss to Notre Dame. The Badgers defeated then-No. 13 Penn State on the road Sept. 26 before beating Michigan State 31-3 on Oct. 3. Wisconsin Athletics said the team enters Saturday’s game following a bye week.
Saturday marks the 12th meeting between the schools. UCLA leads the all-time series 7-4, but Wisconsin has won the last three contests, including both previous meetings at Rose Bowl Stadium. The Badgers defeated UCLA 21-16 in the 1994 Rose Bowl Game and 38-31 in the 1999 Rose Bowl Game. Their most recent meeting was Wisconsin’s 21-20 victory in the 2000 Sun Bowl.
