If you are a fan of podcasts, be sure to bookmark the new Friends In Deed podcast featuring Executive Director Rabbi Joshua Levine Grater. The 2022 season is well underway with regularly released episodes ranging from approximately 15 to 40 minutes long and covering a wide variety of local topics and special guests.
“We publish a weekly email every Friday that shares stories, news, and covers topics of interest to our work and our community, but wanted to enhance our local presence to get the word out about Friends In Deed through other mediums.” Rabbi Grater explains. “This podcast allows us to open up to a whole new audience and is more conducive to guest appearances and conversations.”
Several fan favorite episodes include episode 2022-7 Najwa Jones: From Being on the Streets to Getting People Off the Streets, and episode 2022-2 Space Race and Poverty. Also, be sure to tune in to hear a regular segment called “Stories from the Street,” where Rabbi Joshua tells stories of folks we help and interviews clients as well so they can tell their own story.
Friends In Deed, a social services agency founded in Pasadena in 1894, focuses on alleviating the effects of poverty for the community’s most vulnerable citizens. Funds raised during the event will go to support its Food Pantry, The Women’s Room (a day shelter for homeless and at-risk women), Bad Weather Shelter, Street Outreach (working to end homelessness on the streets of Pasadena), and Eviction Prevention and Rental Assistance program. Friends In Deed is committed to providing compassion, connection, and dignity for all clients experiencing times in their lives when they need assistance most.
