The eastbound section of Holly Street from Linda Vista Avenue to approximately 100 feet east of the Holly Street Bridge will be closed beginning Monday, April 7, as the city conducts slope and roadway repairs.
The Department of Public Works will facilitate the reconstruction of a slope located southeast of the Holly Street Bridge which eroded due to the February 28 rainstorm. Approximately 25 lineal feet of concrete retaining wall and curb along the south of Holly Street was damaged.
The City will be spending approximately $80,000 in repair, which includes the excavation and re-grading of a portion of the slope and the construction of a new concrete retaining wall, curb and gutter, driveway approach and roadway pavement.
Public Works Director Siobhan Foster said the construction is expected to last for three weeks.
The contractor for the project is Tony B. Hayward, Inc., a Monrovia-based company which has previously completed similar works for the city.
Residents living on Holly Street will be given access throughout the project period, the department said.
